Liverpool are unlikely to let goalkeeping duo Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet leave now they have sold Danny Ward to Leicester, according to Sky Sports.

The sports broadcaster reports on their website that having already sold the 6’3″ [Transfermarkt] giant to the former Premier League winners this summer, a double exit involving the key duo is unlikely to happen this year.

However, Sky Sports also claim that one of them could leave before the end of August, with Besiktas said to be keen on a loan deal for German stopper Karius after his horror show in the Champions League Final defeat to Real Madrid, while the Sun report that Napoli are chasing Mignolet.

OPINION

It would be a nightmare if the Reds were to let their key duo leave, as it would mean there would be no top-quality cover for new number one Allison. They need to keep hold of at least one of them no matter how tempting an offer is – otherwise they could be faced with another goalkeeping crisis. It remains to be seen which keeper will exit the club, as they have both attracted interest from Europe – so Klopp will have to decide which one he is more keen on keeping. Karius has enjoyed a relatively stress-free season apart from that fateful night in Kiev, whilst Mignolet has hardly been seen recently. However, the possibility of both of them leaving is unlikely – the only decision Klopp needs to make is whether he will offload one of them at all. All we can do now is wait to see what happens by the deadlines this month.
