John Motson has predicted Liverpool to win the Premier League title in their upcoming campaign and listed Alisson Becker among his five top signings of the summer.
The legendary commentator shared that while others may have raised their eyebrows over the amount the Reds paid for the Brazilian goalkeeper, he thought the shot-stopper would be worth every penny.
“Goalkeeper has always been a problem position for Jurgen Klopp but the Liverpool boss has solved it now,” wrote Motson, better known as Motty for The Sun.
“The fee may have raised a few eyebrows, but it will be worth every penny as Alisson’s arrival will improve his team-mates in front of him, may be final piece of the jigsaw.”
Motson also listed both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino among his top five contenders for the Premier League’s golden boot during his assessment of the upcoming season.

Motson stated he believes the Reds will finish top of the pack with Manchester City just behind them and hopefully he is right with his prediction. It is about time the Reds won the Premier League title and after a fabulous summer transfer window then they look like having a real chance of taking the crown from Man City’s head. While Jurgen Klopp may not want to get to carried away as his new recruits will need to settle in, it’s understandable why Motson has backed the Reds for league glory. The famous voice also seems very convinced that Alisson will live up his £65million price tag (Source: The Guardian) and be able to aid the Reds’ quest for the Premier League title. Motson may not directly state his reasons why he’s backing the Reds ahead of Manchester City in the title race but given his acknowledgement of Alisson, Salah and Firmino is clear that he thinks Klopp has a team that is strong at both ends of the pitch.
