Football icon Pele has predicted Liverpool to win the Premier League title as he thinks it’s their year.
The retired Brazilian footballer posted a brief message via his personal Twitter account on Friday ahead of the new Premier League season getting underway.
Pele aside from simply claiming that it was about to be the Reds’ year also named dropped fellow Brazilian players Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker in his brief tweet.
It's the start of the @PremierLeague today. Who do you think will win? I think it's the year of Liverpool, Alisson and Firmino! // É o início da Premier League hoje. Quem você pensa que vai vencer? Eu acho que este é o ano do @LFC, com @Alissonbecker e Firmino! https://t.co/59koCXIIqP

OPINION
Lots of people are backing Jurgen Klopp’s side to lift the Premier League title when it is all said done but few are as famous as Pele in the game of football. The iconic footballer is regarded by a lot of pundits, fellow footballers and managers as one of, if not the, greatest player to have ever played the beautiful game. So for the Reds’ to have his backing ahead of the new season is pretty inspiring when you consider his glowing reputation in the game. It seems the football icon will be keeping his eye on his fellow Brazilians Firmino and Alisson in the upcoming season as they aim to bring trophies to Anfield. Both players are due to play an important part in Klopp’s plans this season and hopefully the duo both exceed the already loft expectations that are in place for them. Given that the Reds have to wait to play until Sunday to play their first league game of the new season, Pele’s endorsement is a cheery note to hold onto ahead of the match.
