Serie A side Torino have failed with a bid to sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic on loan with a view to a permanent deal next summer, according to Goal.

The reputable news website report that Torino made the approach last week which included an option to make the loan permanent for just £9million.

Goal claim that the offer was swiftly rebuffed by the Reds, with the Anfield club said to value the 22-year-old enforcer at around double that amount.

Giant midfielder Grujic, who stands at 6ft 3in tall [Transfermarkt], is highly-rated by manager Jurgen Klopp, who believes he has massive potential.

OPINION

It is hardly surprising to hear that Liverpool have dismissed Torino’s offer out of hand, with the Serie A side needing to up their valuation significantly to have any chance of a deal. In any case it is unlikely that manager Jurgen Klopp would allow Grujic to leave on a deal with a permanent option, with the Reds known to rate Grujic very highly. Reports suggest that the Serbia international is viewed as a potential first-team regular in the near future, and it would therefore take a sizeable offer to prise him from Anfield permanently. That being said, Torino could be an exciting option for Grujic on a loan deal, with the Turin-based club sure to offer him plentiful first-team opportunities. Getting regular minutes is the key for Grujic if he wants to continue his development at pace, and to get that in the Italian top-flight would be brilliant for both him and Liverpool.
