West Bromwich Albion are currently leading the race to sign Liverpool attacker Sheyi Ojo, according to Goal.

The football news outlet claim that the Reds would be open to selling the 21-year-old winger with them looking to get £15million for his services.

Goal report that Ojo’s pricetag could be a stumbling block for the Baggies but that they may look to negotiate a loan-to-buy deal with them targeting an immediate return to the Premier League.

It is believed that while WBA lead the race to sign Ojo after expressing serious interest in the player, Middlesbrough, Stoke City, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City all remain in the hunt to sign him.

OPINION

As Goal’s report refers to, Jurgen Klopp recently claimed that loaning out Ojo made sense which implies that for a club to permanently attain his services this summer then an enticing offer is needed.  The Baggies could be successful with their pursuit of Ojo if their potential loan-to-buy proposal is tempting enough but it feels like the Championship side would have to guarantee the Reds a big day for it to get the Merseyside giants’ attention. It’s unclear whether the Baggies would really want to commit themselves to paying an eight-figure fee as if they fail to win promotion back to the Premier League on their first attempt, it could give them an unwanted bill to pay on top of their disappointment of being stuck in England’s second-tier for another season. While Ojo didn’t have the most amazing of times while at Fulham on loan last season when you consider his blistering pace and ability to bypass his opponents then perhaps he can make a real different to the Baggies’ promotion bid if recruited.
