Some Liverpool supporters took to social media to comment on Southampton leading the reported race to sign Danny Ings.
The Daily Mirror’s Live Transfer Blog (Wednesday, 13:09) stated that the Saints were desperate to beat Crystal Palace to signing the Reds’ 26-year-old forward and were looking to push through a late deal for his services.
Mirror reporter David Maddock then commented on the update regarding Ings, via his personal Twitter account, by sharing that as it stood the Saints were the favourites to sign Ings.

Despite the Mirror’s update claiming the Reds were looking to get a £20million fee for their attacker’s services, one supporter of Jurgen Klopp’s side tweeted to say that the club should be looking to charge Southampton £35million as it was them.
Live 4 Liverpool has rounded up a handful of tweets by Reds supporters about Southampton being the frontrunners for Ings’ services:

OPINION
Several players have made the jump from Southampton to Liverpool in recent seasons and it seems Reds supporters are finding the humour in a player actually going in the other direction. While one Reds supporter believes the Saints deserve to be thrown a bone by having the Merseyside giants sell Ings to them, others want his price to be hiked as it’s the Saints buying from them. It seems that after the Reds have been forced to splash tons of cash recruiting players from the Saints then supporters of Jurgen Klopp’s side want their club to play hardball in order to get the max price for Ings before the transfer window shuts.
