Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been nominated for the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League Forward of the Season award.

UEFA announced the news of the Egyptian’s nomination on their official Twitter account.

The other nominations for the award of Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a tremendous run of form last season, scoring 42 goals and providing 16 assists in 52 appearances for the Reds.

OPINION

It’s great to see Mohamed Salah be nominated for such a prestigious award after a fantastic season. The Egyptian, who signed from AS Roma last summer, enjoyed an outstanding campaign last time out, scoring a bucket load of goals and producing some electric performances in a Reds shirt. He wowed the Kop faithful and neutrals alike with some delightful displays in a number of high-profile games and the Anfield club will hope he can replicate this form in the upcoming season. It’s going to be difficult for Salah to hit the heights of last season, as his stats were incredibly high, but if he gets anywhere near what he produced last season then that will have to be classed as a success as the second season is always harder than the first. With the likes of Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri complimenting the attack, Salah will enjoy even more service next season so all bets are off for what he can achieve.
