The saga regarding Liverpool and their link to Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir has been stretched out massively, but they must turn their attention on him once again within the next 48 hours.

The attacker has spoken out about his future in these last few days of the transfer window, and was quoted by the Mirror [9.00am] as saying: “As you can see, I’m in Lyon. I am very good here. But the transfer window is still long and everything goes very fast in football.”

In light of these recent comments, Liverpool must plot a last-ditch raid for the Lyon star to replace Adam Lallana at Anfield before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The former Southampton man does not fit into boss Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the club any more, especially now the arrivals of Fabinho and Naby Keita have pushed him further down the pecking order.

Lallana – who is on £65,000 a week [Spotrac] – simply does not fulfil the requirements of playing for a team who could potentially lift the title come the end of the season.

He has been particularly injury prone during his stint on Merseyside, which has not helped his cause for regular first team football.

Fekir is has not ruled out a move as deadline day looms and this is a situation that the Reds must take advantage of imminently.

The 25-year-old was part of the France team that won the World Cup and is miles ahead in terms of technical ability than Lallana is.

There is no harm in trying to swoop for the international once again, and Liverpool could live to regret it if they do not act now.

His combination with the current front three that includes Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane would be lethal, and he would certainly prove to be more potent in attack than Lallana is.

Liverpool must replace him with Fekir imminently to reap the benefits that he would undoubtedly bring.
