Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo should be jumping at the chance to join West Bromwich Albion not waiting for a Premier League suitor to make a move for him.

The pacey 21-year-old is holding out for some late Premier League interest, according to The Sun’s print edition (August 5, page 61) to be shown in his services despite the Reds being willing to sell him to the Championship side for £12million.

While Watford and Fulham are both believed to be keen on him, it’s hard to see them being willing to better the Baggies’ potential offer with the Reds set to sell to the highest bidder.

Ojo is putting himself at risk of being stuck at a club, who are clearly ready to ensure his future isn’t with them, as the Championship side will need to pursue other alternative options to improve their attack rather than wait around for him.

The Reds’ speed demon may have shown glimpses of his talent while on loan at the Cottagers last season but he hardly impressed enough to see Premier League offers come flooding in for him, especially when he has a £12million price tag attached to him.

Ojo featured 22 times for Fulham last season, scoring four while creating two, and it was only when he stopped regularly featuring that the Cottagers went on an impressive run of results in order to get into the Championship play-offs.

This means the winger, who can flourish on either flank, should be jumping at the chance to join the Baggies as not only are they apparently willing to push the boat out to get him, they are aiming to get promoted by the time this season ends.

If he opted to join the Baggies now then he could cement himself in their side and they will perhaps keep him as first-team regular even if they reach the promise land of the Premier League.

Therefore Ojo’s apparent need to hold out for another suitor is causing him to act like a fool as he should be rushing to join WBA this summer.
