Crystal Palace have placed a bid of £18 million for Liverpool forward Divock Origi after interest from Valencia, according to Spanish publication EI Desmarque.

The outlet claimed on their website that the Belgian forward is wanted by the La Liga club which has prompted the Eagles into making a move for the 23-year-old.

Returning from his loan spell at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, the Belgium international remains behind the likes of Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke in the striker pecking order and could now leave before deadline day tomorrow evening.

Origi has managed 12 goals in 51 appearances for the Reds and enters the final 12 months of his contract this year.

OPINION

Despite a difficult campaign on loan at Wolfsburg last season, Origi has proven he can be a useful asset to the Liverpool squad in the past but it is unlikely that he will gain enough minutes with the club considering the attacking talent that is considerably ahead of him in the pecking order. A move to Palace would see Origi link up with former Liverpool team mate Christian Benteke and the pair could form a potentially strong partnership if both of the forwards were in goalscoring form. Origi has already played on both wings and as a striker both on his own and in a pair, and his pace, power, skill and eye for goal would make him a fine candidate at any Premier League club. Origi has 25 caps for his national side and the Belgian will aim to continue playing for his country by gaining regular game time away from Merseyside.
