A number of Liverpool supporters have been left drooling over Xherdan Shaqiri’s performance for Switzerland against England on Tuesday.
The jet-heeled attacker, on a reported £100,000-per-week [Source: Spotrac] at Anfield, was in the thick of things throughout and even hit the post in his side’s 1-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.
His display, coupled with an excellent showing against Iceland in Switzerland’s previous game, has led many Reds fans to call for him to be more involved after the international break.

He will get game time. Klopp will have to start rotating at some point.

OPINION
Shaqiri was at the centre of things for Switzerland on Tuesday, and clearly issued a reminder to Liverpool fans of what he can do. Playing in the number 10 position, he showcased his creativity and his eye for goal, with the post denying him early on in the game. He’s made a low-key start to his Liverpool career but will likely be more involved in the first team in the coming weeks once the Champions League begins. It seems like the supporters are relishing that prospect, and if he takes his international form back to Merseyside then he will certainly be able to make a big contribution for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season. It’s good for the club to have competition for places, and Shaqiri definitely provides that for his Reds team mates. His time at Anfield will come soon enough, and Liverpool fans are clearly looking forward to it.
