Alvaro Arbeloa shared that he hoped Liverpool could win the Premier League but claimed it wouldn’t be easy due to the quality of Manchester City.

The former Reds full-back delivered his verdict on the title race before making a bold claim about Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Arbeloa revealed that as far as he was concerned that they were three of the 10 best strikers in the world due to their overall quality.

“I think they (Liverpool) have a really good times, their new signings are good players so I think their squad is amazing and I hope they can fight for the title,” stated the 36-year-old in an interview with talkSPORT’s Ian Abrahams, which was uploaded to Soundcloud.

“They deserve to win the trophy but we will see as Man City have a really good coach and have a good squad so it’s not going to be easy for Liverpool but as I’ve said before they have really good players especially in front and we will be there.

“I think the three attackers Liverpool, strikers, they are just amazing, they have pace, they quality, they’re strong so I think they’re for three of the ten best strikers in the world so they’re going to have a good chance of fighting for the Premier League.”

OPINION

Arbeloa doesn’t shy away from making big claims as it’s very bold to suggest that Mane, Salah and Firmino are all among the best strikers in the world. While it is a huge statement to make, at least you can make a case for why each attacker should warrant a place in the World’s top 10 as all have been in prolific form in recent times. Salah may have grabbed every headline last season due to scoring 32 goals in 36 league games in his debut season at Anfield but that doesn’t mean Mane and Firmino didn’t score their fair share. The only question mark over Arbeloa’s claim is whether any of the three, including Firmino, can be viewed as out-and-out strikers. The trio regularly dart all over the place and they end up finding themselves deployed a winger or in the centre of the attack depending on who their opponent is. However it can be agreed on with Arbeloa that the Reds have a chance of winning the Premier League title this season but they need to work hard to see off Manchester City to get their hands on some silverware.
