England’s hierarchy are worried about Liverpool attacker Dominic Solanke as he struggles to feature under Jurgen Klopp, according to The Telegraph.

The national newspaper claim that the 20-year-old, who earns £25,000-a-week at the club (Source: Spotrac), is highly regarded by Football Associations officials but there are concerns that his lack of playing time at Anfield is affecting his development.

The Telegraph report that Solanke’s lack of regular football is becoming an increase concern for England’s hierachy as he is yet to feature in any of Klopp’s 18-man squads for the Reds this season.

OPINION

Solanke has rightfully not been involved regularly with the Reds’ first-team so far this season as he didn’t make the most of his opportunity to feature in his 2017/18 campaign. The 20-year-old made 27 appearances for Klopp’s side last season but only mustered one goal. It’s hardly Klopp’s fault that he has been left with no choice not to play Solanke regularly in this campaign as it’s his job to field the best side he possibly can. The only mystery regarding the forward is why the Reds didn’t secure him a loan move this summer as it was known for the whole window that he was unlikely to be part of Klopp’s plans. While the FA are clearly concerned about the attacker’s development there’s not much that can really be done to ease their worries at this stage. However hopefully for the FA, Liverpool and even the player’s sake, a loan exit on the cards for the promising forward in January as that will soon get his development back on track and not affect his international future in a bad way.
