A Liverpool scout was in attendance when Benfica hosted Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, according to the reportedly official list that was posted on Twitter.

Tom Kundert, who is a journalist for World Soccer Magazine as well as the creator of PortuGOAL, posted a picture of the official list via his Twitter account of the scouts that were in attendance of Benfica’s latest European encounter.

The allegedly official list revealed that the Reds weren’t the only Premier League team paying attention to Benfica against Bayern Munich as Arsenal, Newcastle United, Watford, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Manchester United were also thought to have scouts at the game.

OPINION

The list seems to appear official, though you can never be 100% sure, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Liverpool were represented at the game. There was a host of talent on show during Wednesday’s Champions League encounter so hopefully the Reds’ scout made a lot of notes. The German giants ended up winning the clash 2-0 with Robert Lewandowski and Renato Sanches grabbing the goals. However it’s unclear who the Reds would have been focus their attention on, let alone what position they will be looking to strength. Jurgen Klopp’s first team currently looks strong in every department with perhaps depth of options in some positions being the only potential issue that needs addressing. Although Reds supporter will no doubt be thrilled at the end of their scouting team staying on top of things by continuing to watch games where world-class talent is no doubt being showcased. It’ll be interesting to see if a Reds scout is pictured at Benfica or Bayern Munich game anytime shortly as it would give a slightly bigger hint to who may have forced their way on to the club’s radar.
