Liverpool are one of several Premier League clubs tracking Fulham teen sensation Harvey Elliott, according to The Sun

The newspaper report that Fulham are attempting to tie the 15-year-old down to a new contract, with his current deal running out at the end of the season.

The Sun claim that Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, with Elliott able to leave the Cottagers for a compensation fee if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

Elliott became the youngest player to ever play for the club when he came on in their Carabao Cup win over Millwall, while also becoming the youngest player ever in the history of the competition.

OPINION

It is no surprise to hear that many of the continent’s top clubs are chasing Elliott after he broke those records this week. The young midfielder is obviously a huge talent, and that is evidenced in Slavisa Jokanovic placing faith in him to play for the first-team already. You do not get to that point without being a brilliant young player, and breaking records like that will always turn heads among the bigger clubs. Liverpool would do brilliantly to snap him up on a compensation fee at the end of the season, but there are two big obstacles in their way. Firstly, there is no suggestion that Elliott is eyeing an exit from Craven Cottage. Secondly, the competition for his signature will be huge, and they will need to work extremely hard to convince him to come to Anfield. Obviously that effort would be worth it, but they need to be patient in waiting for the right moment to pounce.
