Some Southampton fans on Twitter opted to destroy defender Cedric Soares for his performance against Liverpool on Saturday.
The Reds cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Saints on Saturday at Anfield and several Saints supporters clearly had a few players that they could have rightly criticised for their efforts.
However several fans opted to tear apart their 27-year-old full-back for his part in their side being swept aside by Jurgen Klopp’s team.
One fan tweeted to ask whether anyone else thought Soares was the worst player in the Saints squad while another implied that the right-back’s crosses were so bad he must shut his eyes when he whips the ball in.
Live 4 Liverpool have rounded up some of the best tweets below:
I swear that Cedric shuts his eyes when he crosses the ball #saintsfc

Terrible performance so far. Why do I wake up early to watch this shambles? Cedric and Hoedt simply not good enough #SaintsFC

Can't blame Hoedt for the 1st goal but Cedric could do better in the build up#saintsfc Matip beating Vestergaard in a aerial battle #saintsfc trying to keep Liverpool out
Need to attack
We score 2 in the second half even we concede another 3 I'd be happy.— TacticalCorner (@CornerTactical) September 22, 2018
Anyone else think Cedric is the worst player in our squad? And we have no other RB LMAAOOOO #saintsfc

OPINION
Soares, who earns £65,000-a-week at St Mary’s (Source: Spotrac), had a day to forgot against the Reds on Saturday as it’s hard to disagree with this section of fans brutal opinion of his performance. The right-back didn’t aid his side’s cause going forward and didn’t exactly make them look solid at the back, as one rightly tweeted, so it’s hard to find the positive in his display. However one fan is a little harsh to suggest that Soares is the worst player in the Saints squad as he has previously look decent for Mark Hughes’ side. The Saints might not be swimming in options to play at right-back, as the fan stated in their opinion, but Soares is being picked on merit not just due to there being no one else to play. Hopefully the defender is able to pick himself up after his recent poor performance as the Saints really need to start looking better at the back in order to do well this season.
