Ever since Philippe Coutinho departed Liverpool in January, the club have failed to recruit an ideal replacement to fill his boots.

The Reds have needed to bring in an out-and-out midfielder who can pick the ball up from deep and stroll forward past the opponents’ defenders, with the current options lacking that creative spark to flip a game on its head as the Brazilian did.

One player that Liverpool must look to in January’s transfer window is Schalke midfielder Amine Harit, who was influential in guiding the German outfit to second place in the Bundesliga in the 2017/18 campaign.

Even though he is only 21-years-old, Harit is already showing the immense potential that could make him a soaring success at Liverpool – he registered seven assists and three goals in 31 appearances for his club last season, and has seven appearances for Morocco under his belt.

Despite the fact that those figures do not quite match those of Coutinho, Harit is still young, and he will be more than capable of replicating the achievements of the ex-Liverpool star as he continues to develop in his career.

He needs to be at a club that can allow him to progress at a steady pace, and there is no better club to do that than the Reds.

Coutinho was an incredibly valuable asset to Liverpool back when he was a star at the club, and his boots will be extremely hard to fill – but Harit has shown the ability that he can step up and show he is worth the punt.

Some may argue that it may be a risk to swoop for a player that is relatively unknown on these shores, but every player has to start from somewhere – and fans may end up thanking the club for taking such a risk.

Liverpool must plot a raid on the Germans for their young maestro in January, when they could finally secure the ideal replacement for ex-fan favourite Coutinho once and for all.
