Adam Lallana must be sat on the sidelines fearing for his Liverpool future after watching teammate Xherdan Shaqiri steal the show against Southampton on Saturday.

The Reds dominated their recent clash with the Saints to record a comfortable 3-0 victory and Shaqiri played a large part in their latest fantastic display despite only playing 45 minutes.

The 26-year-old summer recruit started the game before being replaced by James Milner at half-time and made the most of his minutes.

Shaqiri demonstrated his silky skills, his pace, his ability to be a danger from a set-piece and just looked too much to handle while delivering a display that no doubt had fans excited.

The attacker, who is quite versatile, played in the number 10 position for the Reds against the Saints and his ability to be an attacking threat from that position must have Lallana wondering what his use is to the club.

The England intentional is currently rooted to the sidelines once again after picking up another injury after having an injury ridden 2017/18 campaign.

Arguably Lallana’s biggest quality and the only reason to keep him round despite his injury, is the fact he is one of the few proven attacking midfielders who can play the No.10 role to perfection for the Reds.

Yet after Shaqiri proved how amazing he could be in that role then there’s no reason for the Reds to continue investing £110,000-a-week (Source: BBC) in Lallana and the player should realise that his future at the club is in jeopardy.

While the 30-year-old, whose contract expires in 2020, can’t instantly make a case for why he should be kept alongside or ahead of Shaqiri due to being injured, he must now know that the pressure is on him to deliver the goods as soon as he is fit enough.

This all means that following Shaqiri’s amazing show-stealing antics in the 3-0 win over the Saints, Lallana must fear for his future and be prepared to fight to stay at Anfield.
