Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s personal intervention convinced him to make the move to Merseyside this summer.

The Brazilian, on a reported £120,000-per-week [Source: Spotrac], was unsure about the switch due to his love for Roma, but the 25-year-old has lifted the lid on the persuasive powers of the Reds manager.

“When the clubs agreed a deal, Jurgen Klopp gave me some calls on Face Time and explained his project and what we would do together,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“I’ve admired him since his days at Dortmund. I like being coached by him, because he does not talk a lot but he always knows what to say and how to do it. He is an intelligent man with great character.”

OPINION

It’s no surprise, watching Klopp from afar, that he was able to persuade a top class player like Alisson to come to Anfield. The German is as charismatic as they come and it looks like his players love operating under him. When you look at the situation at Manchester United in contrast to their great rivals Liverpool, it’s clear which manager you’d rather play under. A personal Face Time call from Klopp shows how much the manager cares and wants to improve his team, and how much he desired to bring Alisson in from Roma. He’s a very intelligent guy and he’s a terrific man manager. He’s able to get the best out of his players and that attribute makes players want to come to the club and play for him. Alisson is a perfect example of that. He’s spoken about how much he loved Rome and enjoyed playing for the Italian giants, but yet Klopp still managed to convince him to come. That speaks volumes about the Liverpool boss.
