Liverpool under-18s striker Bobby Duncan was invited to work with the first team at Melwood on Wednesday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The regional newspaper reports on their website that the 17-year-old frontman was invited to train with the first team players after his impressive form saw him score eight goals in eight games this season.

Jurgen Klopp is taking the chance to cast an eye over some of the club’s young talent while he awaits the return of some of his senior squad from international duty.

The prolific forward was invited by Academy director Alex Inglethorpe to train at Melwood as a reward for his form so far, with other players such as Paul Glatzel, Adam Lewis, Dan Atherton, Matty Virtue and Liam Coyle also invited to training.

OPINION

It is no surprise that Bobby Duncan was invited to train with the first team on Wednesday. Scoring eight goals in eight games is a mightily impressive figure, which even more impressive when you recognise that he is only 17-years-old. If he is in this type of form at such a young age, who knows how he will progress over the next few seasons? No wonder Jurgen Klopp wanted to take a look at him. Duncan would have no doubt done all he could to impress the German, but with a goal tally like his, that would not be very hard to achieve. His prospects of making the first team look rather bright at the moment, so it would not be a shock to see Klopp hand the youngster his chance next season. Duncan has a very bright future ahead of him – and by the looks of things, he has already made quite the impression.
