Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has backed team mate Sadio Mane to become one of the best players in world football over the coming years.
The Senegal star enjoyed a red-hot start to the new season but has cooled off in recent weeks, despite that Fabinho is expecting big things from his Reds team mate in the future.
“Sadio Mane is an excellent player,” he told the Daily Star. “Before I came to Liverpool, I saw him on TV and I liked him a lot. He is very fast and very intelligent.
“He has everything to continue growing to become one of the best players in the world. I hope he continues with us for a long time. It is a pleasure to play alongside him.”

This is a big claim from Fabinho. Mane has shown over the past few seasons that he is one of the finest attackers in the Premier League, but whether he has the consistency to become one of the greatest players in world football remains to be seen. It’s always slightly surprising when a Liverpool player predicts world domination for a team mate and they’re not talking about Mohamed Salah or even Virgil van Dijk. Salah is the man who took English football by storm last term and had some people mentioning him in the same breath as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. So in that respect Fabinho’s comments are a surprise, but Mane does have the talent to become an elite level player. His raw ability is up there with anyone in the Premier League and if he can just become more consistent on a week to week basis, as he did at the start of this season, then he may well prove Fabinho’s prediction correct.
