Liverpool are in contact with the representatives of Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay, according to Turkish-Football.

The Turkish football news outlet claim that the Reds are maintaining their connection to the 25-year-old attacking midfielder, who shares an agent with Naby Keita and Sadio Mane, due to keep an interest in him.

German newspaper Blid previously reported at the start of the year that the Reds were one of many clubs who admired Demirbay’s talents but that he would cost a fixed transfer fee of 32 million euros (£28.1million) due to a release clause in his deal.

OPINION

It would be an interesting move for the Reds to make if their contact regarding the 25-year-old developed into making a move. Demirbay has only just got back in Hoffenheim’s first-team after an injury caused him to lose his place and have a fight on his hands when it came to getting a game. The 25-year-old recently played against Manchester City in the Champions League and didn’t exactly look like he was firing on all cylinders. However there is no denying that the Reds could do with a new attacking midfielder to aid their cause especially with Adam Lallana continuing to have such bad luck with injuries. Demirbay, who has 18 assists in 52 Bundesliga appearances during his career, does seem to have the quality to aid Jurgen Klopp’s squad but you feel there may be better signings the club could make if they’re to spend big. Although it’s worth noting that Klopp already knows Demirbay as there was a crossover during the pair’s time at Borussia Dortmund, which means the 25-year-old maybe be able to settle into life at Anfield quickly if recruited.
