Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has been given the all-clear after coming off in the 19th minute in the Champions League fixture with Napoli, according to reliable journalist James Pearce.

Pearce – who is known as a reporter on the Reds for the Liverpool Echo – has revealed via his personal Twitter account that the first team figure is also set to travel back to England with the rest of his teammates later today after being given the all-clear following his worrying injury blow.

Jordan Henderson replaced Keita early on in the first half of this encounter, and the star was taken off the pitch on a stretcher after falling awkwardly.

OPINION

This crucial news will undoubtedly be a major boost for boss Jurgen Klopp, especially ahead of the game with Manchester City this Sunday. Klopp would have obviously been fearing that he would be without one of his star players for the crunch clash, but it now looks like he will be able to feature after being given the all-clear. This news will also delight many Liverpool fans, who would have been gutted to see one of their star assets leave the field so early on in this fixture. Keita has been pivotal for the Reds this season and it would have been a huge blow to lose him for the City match, and the fact that he could possibly play will not delight their opponents in the slightest. Having Keita on the pitch on Sunday will be integral to Liverpool securing a positive result at Anfield in what could be one of the most important clashes of the Premier League season.
