Some Liverpool fans on social media were amused by Everton’s reported pursuit of attacker Divock Origi.

ESPN claimed that while the Toffees had contacted the Reds about the 6ft 1in tall forward (Source: Four Four Two), they had made tentative checks on his ability as they’re considering how to bolster their firepower.

Turkish news outlet Aksam also reported Marco Silva’s team desire to add Origi to their ranks but added if they got their man, then either Cenk Tosun or Oumar Niasse would depart in January.

Upon hearing that their local rivals were pursuing Origi, some Liverpool fans opted to plead with the Toffees to take him on Twitter, while others didn’t wanna see him make the jump to Goodison Park.

One fan even simply tweeted to ponder how much money the Toffees had before appearing to a slap a £50million price on the forward’s head.

OPINION

The majority of this section of Reds fans opted of to mock the Toffees for even being interested in Origi with one posting ‘ha’ several times over. This is a clear reflection of how lots of supporters of Jurgen Klopp’s currently view the forward, as it’s hard to remember his talents as it’s been so long since he has successfully showcased them for the club. The 23-year-old forward, who also play as a winger on either flank, hasn’t featured this season and does seem like he will make an appearance anytime soon. Origi is extremely low down the pecking order due to the impressive form of others but also because he struggled to make a case for himself in the summer during pre-season. The attacker had a mixed spell while at Wolfsburg last season and he really needed to impress upon arriving back at the club ahead of the current season to have any chance of featuring in Klopp’s plans. However the sad truth is he isn’t and if Everton are willing stump up the cash for him, then the Reds shouldn’t stand in the way of his exit.
