Former Liverpool player John Arne Riise has delivered his verdict on the Reds’ 2-0 loss to Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday, saying it was a “really bad game”.
A brace from Pavkov all but sealed Liverpool’s fate in this Champions League group C encounter, which means they now drop to second – and Arne Riise was far from pleased with the result, saying it was not what he “expected” via his personal Twitter account.
Guess not then!!! Always believe but tonight was a really bad game. Not what I expected https://t.co/K5pywmX0TO

OPINION
It is hard not to agree with the former Liverpool man here – it really was not the best performance from Jurgen Klopp’s team. This display was very unlike the Liverpool we have seen maintain their unbeaten start in the Premier League, but they are now in a position where they may find themselves drawn against one of the best teams in Europe. This is the last secario that Klopp wants to happen, especially after last season’s heartbreak following the loss in the Final. They really need to get their heads down for the next clash, as they cannot be losing to teams like Red Star, especially with the quality that they have in their side. Liverpool had a bit of a point to prove in this game after surrendering their lead at the weekend, but they seemed to have done the complete opposite. Luckily for them, they have Fulham this weekend, a team who have not been having the best of times recently after their 1-0 loss to Huddersfield.
