Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has delivered his verdict on Liverpool keeper Alisson ahead of the Champions League clash between the two sides on Wednesday.
Buffon has admitted that he is a “big admirer” of the Reds’ summer signing, and says how he is a fan of how the 6ft 3in [Transfermarkt] ace gives his back four confidence – and as a result, he is one of the “top three” goalkeepers “in the world”.
The two sides meet at the Parc des Princes in a clash that has the power to determine the fate of either team in the competition, and despite the importance of the fixture, Buffon reckons that Alisson has the ability to achieve even greater things with the Reds.
“I have been watching him for some years now and am a big admirer. He is comfortable with the ball, he is an excellent shot stopper and I see that he gives confidence to his defence,” he said, as quoted by the Mirror.
“He is one of the top three goalkeepers in the world right now and has everything to go on and be a great of his position.”

Buffon is right to heap praise on Alisson in the way that he has, as he has already shown in the short space of time that he has been at Liverpool that he has the attributes to go on and be a better keeper than he already is. There is no doubt that he is one of the top three stoppers in the world at the moment, as it would be hard to name many keepers who are better than him at the moment. He is arguably the best goalkeeper out of the Premier League’s top-six clubs and that could perhaps give Liverpool an advantage over Manchester City in the title race this season. We have only seen the start of what Alisson can do, so it will be exciting to see how he evolves over the next few years – as he really has the potential to achieve some fantastic things with Liverpool.
