Liverpool are one of several clubs in the hunt for Dinamo Zagreb attacker Dani Olmo, according to SPORT.

The Spanish outlet report that the 20-year-old’s former club, Barcelona, are considering an attempt to re-sign the young Spanish playmaker, but will face competition from the Reds among others.

SPORT claim that Zagreb have previously rejected offers worth £17.5million for the 5’10” versatile forward [Transfermarkt], and only a bid of £22million would convince them to let him leave.

OPINION

Olmo is a player who Liverpool have been tentatively linked to in recent months, with the young Spaniard continuing to impress for Dinamo Zagreb. Olmo’s form for his club has caught the eye of many of Europe’s top clubs, with Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund also among those rumoured with a move. The Reds will therefore have their work cut out if they are to secure the 20-year-old’s signature. At the moment, their biggest rival for Olmo looks to be Barcelona, who allowed Olmo to leave in 2014 to Zagreb. The Catalan giants obviously regret their decision to let Olmo leave, and are now working hard to get him back four years later. It will be interesting to see where Olmo ends up, because he is unlikely to get as much first-team football as he currently does at Zagreb anywhere else right now. If Liverpool win the race then he will likely go into the Under-3 set-up before being promoted to the first-team.
