Liverpool midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza will be sidelined for up to six weeks due to suffering ligament damage to his knee whilst on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, according to the Bundesliga club’s website.

Frankfurt’s website confirms that the 21-year-old acquired the injury during a training session last week and he will not play again for the German outfit until next year after suffering lateral collateral ligament in his left knee.

Souza, who signed for the club back in 2015, will go back to Liverpool on Wednesday to get medical attention and start his recovery, which is often the case when a player gets injured while out on loan.

OPINION

Many Liverpool fans would not have heard much of the youngster since he signed for the club in 2015 and that is largely down to the fact that he has struggled to get a work permit since signing. However, this is a major blow to him in terms of his development, especially as he will not be playing for another six weeks. He is not going to be playing for Liverpool any time soon, and this was his only way of getting regular game time – but he has only made four appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season, so things are not going exactly well for Souza. It is a shame, as he was once hailed as a player to watch, but that has been put seriously on hold for the time being. Until he has recovered and is able to gain a work permit, his dreams of playing in the Premier League
