Liverpool must attempt to prise Christian Eriksen away from Tottenham in the January transfer window as he would instantly transform the team into a Premier League title-winning one.
Even though summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri is hugely versatile along the midfield, the Reds still lack a playmaker – or a ‘number ten’ – who can make a real impact on matches.
Eriksen is just the answer to that exact problem – but they would have to fight off interest from Juventus, who view the playmaker as a potential signing amid his contract standoff according to Tutto Sport.
This news should put Liverpool on high alert, as Eriksen’s ability is a sight to behold, and that is just what the club need in order to get an edge over Manchester City in the race for the title.
Liverpool need to have first dibs on a player who is proven on the Premier League, Champions League and international stage, and if they do manage to sign him, then Jurgen Klopp would have finally completed the Reds’ transfer puzzle.
He is playing at the best he has been for a while, so who would not want to make the most of that?
Whenever he is on the field, Tottenham know that the result is likely to swing their way, mainly because the opponent’s defence are so afraid of the silky skills that he produces.
Klopp would play an absolute blinder by swooping for the playmaker and there is no doubt that Liverpool fans would be drooling at the prospect of the Denmark international combining with the likes of Shaqiri and Naby Keita in the midfield.
They would be virtually untouchable from that moment on and Liverpool would surely be the envy of their top-six rivals.
Mauricio Pochettino will not let Eriksen go without a fight, but one thing is for sure – the fans would be drooling at the thought of him joining.
