A number of Liverpool supporters have been reacting to Daniel Sturridge’s charge by the FA for alleged breaching of betting rules.
The FA announced the news on their website, with the England international potentially facing a ban for his alleged actions.
If that were to prove the case it would represent a big blow for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and the Reds faithful have aired their frustrations on Monday.
COMMENTARY
You can totally understand why the Liverpool fan are so frustrated by this incident. Sturridge has just begun to find his feet again at Anfield after years of injury problems and poor form, so for him to potentially miss any time because of something like this would be a bitter blow to the Reds. It’s such a bonus for Klopp to have someone like Sturridge that he can bring off the bench or rotate one of his front three for, and the German will fear losing him as a result of this incident. Joey Barton served a 15 month ban for a similar offence and Liverpool fans will fear that something similar awaits the 29-year-old. If that were the case it could potentially spell the end for his stay on Merseyside, with the frontman’s contract set to expire at the end of this season [Source: Spotrac]. This is bad news for Liverpool whatever way you slice it.
