Former Liverpool player John Arne Riise has singled out recalled midfielder Naby Keita for his display in the 3-1 win over Burnley on Wednesday.

The Clarets initially went ahead at Turf Moor, but James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri hit back for the visitors in order to maintain Liverpool’s unbeaten run in the Premier League.

He highlighted summer signing Keita – who is on £120,000-a-week [Spotrac] – for his performance in this midweek clash via his personal Twitter account, declaring “how important” he will be for Liverpool this season following the game.

He said: “Keita.. what a player!! He will be so important for us.”

OPINION

Back in the starting XI, Keita showed why he can be an incredibly important player for Liverpool this season, and that was evident during his first game of the season against West Ham. Pundits could not get enough of him after that match, but it is no surprise that Arne Riise reckons that Keita will be key to Liverpool’s success this season. He is a fantastic midfielder and the way he controls that position is excellent – so any fans who may have doubted him after his return from injury will now be eating their words. He is clearly back to his best if this performance is anything to go by, so fingers crossed he can maintain this type of form for the remainder of the campaign. Jurgen Klopp is undoubtedly not going to drop Keita following his outing at Burnley, and to be honest, he worked quite well alongside Jordan Henderson.
