Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip has been ruled out for six weeks with a broken collar-bone, according to a reliable journalist.
Paul Joyce – a Northern correspondent for the Times – revealed via his personal Twitter account that the £70,000-a-week [Spotrac] star suffered the injury in the recent Champions League clash with Napoli on Tuesday, which ended 1-0.

Fellow centre-back Joe Gomez has also been ruled out for six weeks with a lower left leg fracture.
OPINION
Matip being ruled out for six weeks would not usually be too big a deal for Klopp, but seeming as Gomez is ruled out for the same amount of time, he is starting to run out of centre-back cover. This is a shame though, as Matip has been decent in the last few games and has deserved his place in the starting XI in both Gomez and Dejan Lovren’s absences. It will be a big blow to him personally, as it was the perfect opportunity to showcase to the manager that he deserves to be in the first team on a regular basis, as well as getting vital minutes under his belt. Injury is what stalled his place in the team in the first place with the likes of Gomez replacing him, so it must be like deja-vu for Matip. Lovren has returned from the sidelines but only made it as far as the bench against Napoli, so it remains to be seen whether he will be fit for the game with Manchester United this Sunday.
