Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke has had a medical at Crystal Palace as he prepares to make the temporary switch down south in January, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports on its website that the £25,000-a-week [Spotrac] attacker is set to join the Eagles on a six month loan in the New Year, and he is now one step closer to joining after completing his medical at the club.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson confirmed the club’s interest in the 21-year-old on Sunday via the BBC.

He said: “It’s no secret he’s a target. He’s a proven goalscorer through all the age groups.”

OPINION

Moving to Crystal Palace on a six month loan is definitely the best move Solanke could have made for his career. He was not going to get a game at Liverpool any time soon after falling down the pecking order, and the fact Hodgson will basically be able to guarantee him game time must have been music to his ears. He needs regular first team experience at a Premier League club in order to progress in the way that he wants to – and there is no doubt that he can excel at Palace if the move does go through. The fact he has already completed his medical is incredibly promising, and if he does join forces, it will be interesting to see how he links up with existing players like Wilfried Zaha. Solanke is a proven goalscorer through the age groups with England, so he is bound to potentially hit the ground running upon his proposed move to South London.
