COMMENTARY
Liverpool’s official website stated that defender Joe Gomez had a signed a new long-term deal with the club and fans of course went wild with joy on social media as a result. The centre-back has been fantastic for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season in his 18 appearances and supporters will be thrilled to hear that he is set to be on course to be at the club for several seasons to come. With Gomez injured currently following the clash with Burnley, it’s nice to hear a positive update regarding him ahead of Christmas. As one fan cheekily tweeted ‘Santa’ Klopp had delivered the goods as the news of Gomez’s new deal being revealed on Monday was fantastic. Hopefully when the 21-year-old centre-back returns to the fold following his injury, his form remains tip-top as it seems clear that Gomez has a big part to play in the Reds lifting silverware this season. While Klopp has adequate cover for Gomez’s injury, the player will still be a big miss in the coming games.
