Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria is on the brink of joining Reading after undergoing a medical, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster’s live blog [11.42am] reports that the 21-year-old arrived in Berkshire on Monday morning ahead of his proposed loan move that will keep him at the Championship club for the rest of the season.

Liverpool and Reading are reported to have agreed all the terms regarding the 6ft [Transfermarkt] ace’s move down south after he spent the first half of the season on loan at Rangers.

OPINION

Ejaria did not have the best of times at Rangers, so it is no surprise that he cut short his loan spell up in Scotland. If everything does go to plan and his move to Reading does eventually go through, this would be a great career step for him. Perhaps playing in the Scottish Premiership did not suit the style of play he adopted, but whatever the reason for leaving, it has led to him being on the brink of a wise move. Reading can provide him with the first team opportunities he needs in order to return to Liverpool as a better player, as after all, there is no denying the talent this youngster has. He may not have been able to showcase this to the best of his ability with the Gers, but if he is able to at Reading, there is no doubt that he will catch the attention of Jurgen Klopp very quickly. Fingers crossed this move does go through, as it would be the best thing for Ejaria at this stage in his career.
