Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has returned to light training while Gini Wijnaldum will be fit to return for the Premier League clash against Leicester on Wednesday, according to the Mirror.

The Brazilian was hauled off in the 4-3 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday due to what the club feared was a hamstring injury, but he has now returned to light training, a prospect which will be a major boost to Jurgen Klopp – especially with no natural right-backs available as injury worries mount on Merseyside.

The club medics are hopeful that the summer signing will be able to return to action following their training camp in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Wijnaldum – who picked up a knock during the 1-0 win over Brighton a couple of weeks ago – is also fit to make a return, allowing Fabinho to operate at right-back.

OPINION

Wow, what a boost this could be for Klopp ahead of the game against Leicester next week. With the likes of James Milner suspended, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez still injured, the manager had no natural right-backs available, which must have been quite the worry. Rafael Camacho was the only recognised player who could play on the right, and even he operates as more of a winger than as a right-back. However, Fabinho returning to light training already is no doubt he news he has been waiting to hear. Seeing as he plays in that position for his country, Fabinho should have no problems doing the same for Liverpool, providing he is fit in time. Klopp would have obviously preferred to have the players he would normally call upon for this role, but he will have to make do this time – and hope and pray that Fabinho wins the race against time.
