Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson could be sidelined for the clash against Brighton this Saturday, according to the Telegraph.
The newspaper reports on their website that the Reds mainstay – who has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season – has an issue with his calf and will need a late fitness test in order to determine whether he will be available for match at the Amex this weekend.
The £100,000-a-week [Spotrac] star sustained the injury just before the Reds’ 2-1 defeat to Wolves in the third round of the FA Cup on Monday, while Adam Lallana is a doubt for the game if he does not manage to get through training without injuring himself.
The injury list is really mounting up for Klopp, isn’t it? First he has three casualties to the central defence, now he has potential doubt for the match against Brighton. Henderson’s possible absence will obviously give Naby Keita the chance to step into the limelight though, so it is not like all is lost in terms of quality cover. Henderson has had a mixed bag of performances this season so whether fans will be concerned about his injury remains to be seen. However, you cannot undermine the impact he has had on the club in recent times. He may not be at his best this term – mainly due to injury hampering his progress – but that does not mean he is not vital to Klopp’s title bid. Nobody knows who will get injured next, so having a quality player like Henderson is no doubt a relief. Yes, he may be sidelined this weekend – but he will definitely try to get back in time for their next clash.
