Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the fitness of Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Joe Gomez.

The Reds manager has said that Lovren will be available for the clash against Leicester City on Wednesday 30 January after being sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in the FA Cup third round loss to Wolves a couple of weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Lallana has returned to training this week after missing the Wolves clash with a minor injury – however, Joe Gomez is not ready to make a return despite showing some improvements, as relayed by Echo reporter James Pearce on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Liverpool have been rather short in the centre-back department recently after having the likes of Lovren, Joel Matip and Gomez out at the same time. However, the fact that they will have Lovren back for the Leicester clash is just the news that everybody would have been wanting to hear. Fabinho has had to deputise alongside Virgil Van Dijk recently, and although he did a rather good job in his alternative role, Klopp will be glad to have one of his permanent centre-backs available. Lallana  returning to training is also a boost for Liverpool, although it remains to be seen just how he will play a part this season when he returns, especially with the formidable front three unlikely to be usurped any time soon. Gomez has no doubt been one of the biggest losses in terms of injuries, and Klopp will undoubtedly be praying for the day he makes a recovery and returns to his solid partnership with Van Dijk.
