BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson has delivered his prediction for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Reds got back to winning ways against Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, and Lawrenson believes they will prevail once again, this time 2-0, against the Eagles.

“Liverpool got through last week’s trip to Brighton with three points, which was the important thing – it is those type of games that decide whether you end up as champions,” he wrote on the BBC Sport website.

“I don’t see them having many problems in winning this one too. Trent Alexander-Arnold is out, but Jurgen Klopp will just play James Milner at right-back, and he will not moan about it. Anything Palace get from this game is a bonus, and I just don’t see it happening.”

OPINION

You’ve got to favour a Liverpool win in this one. Jurgen Klopp’s team seem like they have moved well past the Reds teams of yesteryear who dropped points against bottom half sides. They are a top class, focused outfit who have routinely done the business against the best and worst the Premier League has to offer this season. Former Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson will make life difficult for them on Saturday, he’ll set his side up to defend resolutely and then break with the pace of Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha, but it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to keep Klopp’s team out for 90 minutes. Liverpool are so hard to beat at Anfield and Palace don’t have the look of a side who are going to spring the upset. It may not be a goal fest, but the Reds should win this one comfortably. If not, it’s going to make a successful title challenge very difficult.
