Liverpool will wait until after their FA Cup clash with Liverpool before they make a decision on the future of in-demand youngster Rafa Camacho, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The newspaper claims that the 18-year-old could be set to make his first team debut against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on Monday.

As a result Jurgen Klopp and his staff will delay making a decision over a player who is attracting loan interest from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, as well as a host of Championship teams.

The Reds are hoping Camacho will sign a new contract with the club, but they are open to allowing him out on loan this month so that he can gain experience.

OPINION

This seems like the right call from Liverpool. Not only does their waiting allow them an opportunity to blood the youngster against a quality team like Wolves, but it gives them the time to consider their options in regards to the player’s future. Clearly he is an in-demand young man, that goes without saying, and so it’s important that the club makes the right decision in regards to who is given permission to nurture him for the next few months. They undoubtedly made the right call with Harry Wilson and Derby County, but it didn’t quite work out with Ovie Ejaria and Rangers. These things can be hard to judge, and it appears to be a question of whether you throw the youngster in at the deep end – in terms of the size of the club – with Sporting Lisbon, or whether they go with the tried and trusted method of second tier football. Let’s see what happens after the Wolves game on Monday.
