Liverpool survived an almighty scare on Saturday as they beat Crystal Palace in a 4-3 thriller at Anfield, with there being a mixed bag of performances from the Reds.

Some players were uncharacteristically poor on the day, while others put in their best performances in a while, including captain Jordan Henderson.

The England international was everywhere for the Reds, dictating play with supreme confidence from the middle of the park in a really impressive display.

Henderson has become something of a whipping boy for Liverpool fans to take aim at on social media, but the fact that there were countless gushing comments about the 28-year-old after the match proves just how good he was on Saturday.

Performances like this from Henderson, which are pretty rare, do make you wonder why he cannot produce such form on a regular basis.

This is not to say that Henderson is poor most weeks, but merely that he rarely reaches such a level as he did on Saturday, with the midfielder probably the best player on the pitch.

The answer may well lie in the players around him, with Henderson forming a really promising partnership with Fabinho on Saturday.

The two players complimented each other really well, with their styles of play merging perfectly to form a really strong central midfield axis against Palace.

Henderson has had many playing partners in midfield during his time at Liverpool, but it could well be Fabinho which finally brings the best out of him.

The much-maligned midfielder has always had the talent, but he has not necessarily been able to blow people away on a regular basis throughout his career.

Obviously that comes down to him and him alone, but other players can help bring out the best in him, and it looks like £100,000-a-week teammate Fabinho [Spotrac] could be the man to finally do that for Henderson.
