The appointment of Sven Mislintat as chief scout was the centrepiece of a behind-the-scenes overhaul at Arsenal last season, but things have not gone to plan at the Emirates.

As reported by the Independent, there has been a breakdown in relations between Mislintat and the new regime in north London, which is being led by former Barcelona honcho Raul Sanllehi.

The newspaper claim that Mislintat’s transfer recommendations have been routinely ignored by Gunners bosses, with manager Unai Emery taking a bigger-than-expected role in the market.

It is said that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are now confident they can lure the unhappy Mislintat away from the Emirates before the end of the season.

This precarious situation will inevitably attract the attention of other top clubs, with Mislintat’s reputation as one of the continent’s top scouts being well-known.

And, despite the huge success of their scouting operation in recent years, Liverpool must now be among that number looking to snap up Mislintat from Arsenal.

Manager Jurgen Klopp worked with the 46-year-old for many years at Dortmund before both ended up leaving the club, and a beautiful reunion at Anfield could be a seriously exciting prospect.

The Reds already have the much-loved Micheal Edwards overseeing transfers, but the addition of Mislintat could form a super team behind the scenes at Anfield.

Liverpool are on the verge of a breakthrough under Klopp with victory in the Premier League and Champions League in their sights, but bringing in Mislintat would help them achieve more sustainable success.

This breakdown in relations at Arsenal prevents a rare opportunity for the Reds to bring in such a renowned figure, and they must take full advantage by launching a raid for the 46-year-old transfer guru in the coming weeks.
