Liverpool may not be in the market for many incomings this month, but in terms of outgoings, they may have to add another player to their list.

That player is Adam Lallana, who has been out of favour under Jurgen Klopp due to the formidable force that is Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

With this trio in red-hot form, the 30-year-old is not going to get a look-in anytime soon, and you cannot help but question whether sitting on the bench is going to heed any benefits for his career at Anfield.

Answer – it will not help in the slightest.

Lallana needs to be loaned out in this current transfer window in order to increase his first team opportunities, otherwise his career at Liverpool is essentially being poured down the drain.

He needs to prove to the Reds manager that he is the exact type of player that he needs in his team next season, so what better way to do that than help another club out?

There is no denying the talent Lallana has and this in no way dictates that Klopp should greenlight a temporary move for him.

Getting minutes under his belt, however, does dictate that very fate.

The fact that Lallana has not been utilised much this season – he has eight appearances to his name this term – despite the ability he has just goes to show how much talent the Reds actually have at their disposal.

One thing is for sure, Klopp will definitely deserve a pat on the back if he sanctioned the midfielder’s temporary departure and he came back having improved considerably.

The £65,000-a-week [Spotrac] midfielder has all the attributes to be great at Anfield, and allowing him to depart on loan would let him hone the talent he knows he has.

Klopp must take a bold risk and sanction a loan exit as soon as possible, otherwise his career will be going to waste.
