OPINION

Andrew Robertson produced another solid showing in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Thursday. He was given a stern examination by former Red Raheem Sterling at the Etihad Stadium but, by and large, he did a good job with the England international. The highlight for the Scotland international was, of course, his part in Roberto Firmino’s goal. The 24-year-old claimed the assist for the Brazilian’s strike, perfectly controlling Trent Alexander-Arnold’s wonderful cross field pass before cushioning a beautiful ball across goal for the former Hoffenheim man to pull Liverpool back into the contest. Robertson really busted a gut to get into a good position for the goal, which says it all about the indefatigable engine that the Scotsman possesses. There were a few sub-par performances in the Liverpool team on Thursday, but Robertson certainly wasn’t among them as he put in yet another terrific shift on the left hand side of the defence.
