Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has been on loan at Championship side Derby County this month, and what a season he has had so far.

Scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in 25 appearances for the Rams, it is safe to say that the 21-year-old is having a blinder of a campaign, no doubt much to the delight of Derby boss Frank Lampard.

He has certainly proved to Reds manager Jurgen Klopp that he is worthy of a chance at Anfield after his impressive performances this term – so when his loan expires in the summer and he makes his way back to Merseyside, he must play out of his skin to prove that he is good enough to make the first team.

The youngster’s free kicks have been a sight to behold numerous times this season, with the latest effort being an excellent, curling free kick against Southampton in their FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday night.

Surely Klopp has taken one look at Wilson and thought, ‘wow’?

He has proved that he is more than capable of hacking it in tough environment like the Championship, so there is no doubting his ability to make the step up to the top-flight.

Wilson does face some tough competition for a place though, as nothing is guaranteed.

He has thrived under the guidance of Lampard and it is clear that this loan stint has really helped improve his overall performance.

Some fans would argue that you do not want too much competition for places, but surely Wilson deserves a shot after this season?

He will no doubt be motivated to do his best in the remainder of this campaign if he knows it may have an impact on his chances at Liverpool.

However, the hard work does not stop there – as the dazzler will then need to play out of his skin to show he is more deserving of place in the starting XI over his teammates.
