Seeing as Liverpool midfielder Fabinho was signed in the summer for £43.7 million, you would have thought that would be enough to assure him of a starting spot.
However, that did not seem to be the case at the beginning of the current campaign, as the 25-year-old was only handed five Premier League starts during this time.
The Brazilian has fought his way back into the first team since November, and since then he has been in excellent form, whilst also demonstrating his versatility by playing at centre-back for a few games due to injuries sustained by his teammates.
Nevertheless, it seems as though Fabinho has hit the nail on the hard in terms of his lacking of playing time earlier on in the season.
“I had the patience to wait for my opportunities. I think if it was up to me I would have been playing from the beginning,” he said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“Maybe Jurgen could see something I couldn’t see, so not just conversations with him but all the staff helped me.”
