Andy Robertson is no doubt Jurgen Klopp’s undisputed first choice at left-back for Liverpool, and rightly so.

The Scot has arguably been one of the Reds’ best players this season and he is often a player who floats under the radar despite making such an impact at Anfield.

However, he only has the likes of Alberto Moreno behind him in the pecking order, and quite frankly, he is not good enough to provide cover in case of an injury or suspension.

One player Klopp should focus his attention on is young defender Adam Lewis.

Lewis was invited by the manager to join the squad on a training camp in Marbella, and he recently outlined his aim to impress the boss during this time.

“[My aim is to] Just to try and get on the bench or maybe in the squad for a Premier League game. Just to keep doing what I’m doing, to be honest. Everyone knows the manager gives opportunities and you can see it with Ki-Jana [Hoever] obviously coming off the bench [against Wolves] with four minutes gone,'” he told Liverpool’s official website.

“So he believes in you as players and if you do well then he’s going to give you that chance.”

Opportunities like this do not come about that often, so the 19-year-old must make the most of his time in Spain and use this golden chance to finally achieve his aim of making the squad for a Premier League game.

He he more than capable of providing some healthy competition for Robertson at left-back, and being thrown in at the deep end can sometimes propel a young player like Lewis up a level.

If the likes of Hoever can break into the first team, then there is no doubt that the youngster can do the same – and seeing as Klopp invited him to train, then he obviously thinks that there is some talent waiting to be unleashed.

Liverpool’s next game is against Bayern Munich in the Champions League next Tuesday and although Klopp is unlikely to risk Lewis in a game of that magnitude, there is a chance that he may name the youngn prospect in the squad to face Manchester United next Sunday.

Either way, Lewis has to make the most of this golden chance that he has been given, as it could be his ticket to the first team.
