Bayern Munich suffered another injury scare last night during their unconvincing 3-2 in over Augsburg in the Bundesliga, with Kingsley Coman, who scored a brace on the night, limping off late on.

According to Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce, the Frenchman could still feature in Tuesday night’s trip to Anfield in the Champions League, but the element of doubt, and the panic with which his potential absence was met can only be read as a good sign for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Reds go into the match with Joel Matip likely to be their only fit senior centre-back, but that shouldn’t detract from the problems their German visitors will be facing too.

Bayern are already without Arjen Robben, while Thomas Mueller is out through suspension, and the German champions, who have been a shadow of their former selves at times this season, look decidedly threadbare.

The feeling in the Liverpool camp will be that this Munich side, heavily blunted in many ways, is ripe for the taking especially given how imperious the Reds have been at home this season.

Conan might still play of course, and the attacker is in fine form, as Friday night’s outing showed, but even if he does, you can’t help feeling that this is a Bayern side far from its best through a combination of injuries and poor form.

Klopp and his players will know this, and while they themselves are far from infallible, they will believe that they have enough in the tank to pull out a result.
