Adrian Durham has suggested that even Jurgen Klopp would be backing Bayern Munich to knock his Liverpool side out of the Champions League this evening.

The talkSPORT host has argued that the Bundesliga champions’ current form, and their home advantage, means that even the Reds’ boss will be expecting a win for the Germans.

Speaking on talkSPORT (Wednesday March 13th, 18.15), he said: “In a private moment with Jurgen Klopp, if you were in a room with him, right now somewhere in the Allianz Arena, and you say to him, ‘Listen, I know you want Liverpool to win, I know you’ve trained these players, but you’ve seen what Bayern Munich have been doing since the break in the Bundesliga.

‘They’re flipping amazing. You’ve got £50,000 and you can place it on Liverpool going through tonight or a Bayern Munich win”. He would go Bayern Munich win.”

OPINION

Everybody knows that Durham is windup merchant, but this is plumbing new depths. Jurgen Klopp has to believe that his side can get the result they need on Wednesday night, otherwise, what’s the point? Durham is talking as of they are three goals down with a mountain to climb, when in reality all they need is a score draw. The Reds will more than fancy their chances of sneaking a goal in Germany, and as soon as that happens, Bayern suddenly need to bag two. They may be a little depleted at the back, with Joe Gomez out and Dejan Lovren only just making his return, but never underestimate Virgil van Dijk, and if he can marshall that backline and keep Joel Matip in check, they will definitely fancy their chances of keeping a lid on their hosts. The first goal is going to be huge in this one, but regardless of who gets it, Liverpool will believe they can pull this off.
