Matt Le Tissier has delivered his verdict on Liverpool’s title run in, and believes that their clash with Southampton will be the Reds’ undoing.

Jurgen Klopp’s men come up against the Saints on April 5th, a week after squaring up against Tottenham, and Sky pundit Le Tissier has suggested that his former side could break Kop hearts with a 2-2 draw

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Liverpool catch Spurs at a good time and I would expect Liverpool to win that one.

“I think the Saints game is one Liverpool drops points in, and that is not myself being biased. The win against Spurs will give them a massive lift and the way Ralph Hasenhuttl has got them playing is great. They took Man Utd all the way at Old Trafford and beat Arsenal and Spurs at home. They raise their game.

“Chelsea are fizzling out and Liverpool will be too strong in that one.”

OPINION

This will not please Liverpool fans in the slightest, but on the basis of their recent stumbles in the title race, you get the feeling that it could be an innocuous result like the one Le Tissier is predicting that could be their undoing. The Reds haven’t been bad by any stretch, but they have dropped points when you would expect them to be winning matches, and that could come back to haunt them. You would fancy Liverpool to be fired up for the clash with Spurs, but it could be against the smaller sides who still have something to battle for that they slip up. That’s if they slip up at all, of course. This is by far the strongest chance they have had to lift the league title in many a year, and there’s no way that the Reds will let go of that opportunity without a fight. It’s going to be tight, but if they can avoid complacency, they have every chance.
